Stair Design in Arlington, VA
There’s a version of your Arlington home where the staircase is the detail that ties everything together, and getting there is more straightforward than most people expect.

Arlington's Trusted Name for Quality Stair Design
People in Arlington tend to invest in their homes properly, and the staircase is one of those projects that pays that investment back every single day. We’ve worked in a lot of homes around here, older colonials, modern renovations, everything in between, and the one thing they all have in common is that the staircase sets the tone for the whole interior.
We don’t show up with a fixed menu. We come in, look at the space, listen to what you’re after, and work through it with you. Some of the best results we’ve gotten came out of a first consultation where the homeowner had one idea in mind, and we found something better together. That kind of conversation is actually our favourite part of the job.
The full process is ours to manage. Structural engineering, material selection, finishes, and the small tolerances that make a staircase feel genuinely solid rather than just functional. You’ll see it in 3D before we touch a thing, and when the job is done, it’ll look exactly like what you signed off on.

What Stair Design Actually Costs in Arlington, VA
Five factors that move the price in either direction:
- Staircase Type and Structure: A straight staircase with a standard rise-and-run is structurally straightforward. A floating design, a spiral, or a curved stair requires significantly more engineering and fabrication time, and that's reflected in the cost.
- Materials Selected: White oak treads and powder-coated steel look completely different from pine and basic wrought iron, and they cost differently too. The material choices you make at the design stage have a direct and substantial impact on the final number.
- Scale of the Project: The number of steps, the height of the run, whether there's a landing involved, whether we're modifying an existing staircase or building from scratch, all of these affect how long the job takes and what it requires.
- Level of Customization: Standard profiles and off-the-shelf components keep costs manageable. Custom profiles, inlays, specialty hardware, and bespoke railing designs add to the timeline and the budget. Neither is wrong; they serve different goals.
- Site Conditions: Older Arlington homes sometimes have surprises behind the walls or under the floors, uneven framing, outdated structural elements, or building constraints that require extra work to resolve. A proper site assessment catches these early so they don't become expensive surprises mid-project.

Your Questions, Answered
We back every project with a five-year craftsmanship warranty. That covers any work we handled directly, including installation, staining, finishing, and touch-up work. If we did it, it’s covered. The one exception is situations where we handled installation, but a separate contractor came in to do the staining or finishing. In that case, we cover our portion of the work. We walk you through all of this clearly before the project begins, so there are no surprises later.
We handle everything in-house. That includes the actual installation, the staining, the finishing, the touch-up work, and the painting. You don’t have to coordinate multiple crews or track down a separate flooring contractor. We also do flooring installation, so if your stair project connects to a hardwood floor refinish or a new floor installation, we can take care of that too. One team, one point of contact, from start to finish.
